Gucci Mane circa 2009 was someone who was really shaking up the industry. He was one of the ground breakers for the sound we call Trap Music. Im not gonna say he was the first but he most def broke down some doors that many take for granted now. Gucci was just raw ATL energy, hard to describe really. I miss this era of Atlanta so much. Gucci was fighting for respect as a rapper, he had respect in the South but I saw him as someone much bigger than just a local Trap Rapper. I wanted to shoot him in a way that would immortalize him forever, that the photos would stand the test of time. No bells and whistles just straight ahead photography, like a historical document. Jonathan Mannions Jay-Z Reasonable Doubt shoot was a big inspiration. Gucci to this day is one of my favorite subjects. He loves taking photos and will shoot as many you desire. Im planning on dropping more photos of Gucci available for print, as he is my most photographed subject of all time.
